Springfield Lead Abatement Program


Increase applicants and raise overall awareness of available lead abatement funds amongst Springfield homeowners and landlords. Lead paint in aging Springfield homes is a public health hazard and children under six are particularly vulnerable. Communications budget was small and required precise targeting of owners.


Created and mailed postcard to targeted database of Springfield homeowners and landlords; helped coordinate a virtual Town Hall with City of Springfield officials, lead abatement experts, and representatives from the Public Health Institute of Western Massachusetts; and raised overall awareness of program through media coverage. Just two days after the postcard mailer was received by targeted owners, the City of Springfield received 15 applications for the program.
